1. What is Thoroughbred Connect?

Thoroughbred Connect (thoroughbredconnect.com) is a resource for horse owners who are looking to rehome a Thoroughbred when its racing or breeding career comes to an end. Thoroughbred Connect allows you (i) to attach your contact information to a Thoroughbred you are interested in assisting with or providing aftercare for in the event the Thoroughbred is in need of such care or (ii) to request contact information for persons interested in assisting with or providing aftercare for a Thoroughbred in your possession. Thoroughbred Connect is voluntary and is provided free of charge to Interactive Registration users. Use of Thoroughbred Connect is subject to the Terms and Conditions of Use.

2. How do I get started using Thoroughbred Connect?

You need an Interactive Registration username and password. If you do not have a username and password, sign up at registry.jockeyclub.com.

To sign up for Thoroughbred Connect, log on at thoroughbredconnect.com or log on to Interactive Registration (registry.jockeyclub.com) and click the Thoroughbred Connect link. (For more information on how to sign up for this FREE service, click here.)

Upon accessing Thoroughbred Connect, you will be prompted to submit your contact information before proceeding. This contact information will be used for Thoroughbred Connect correspondence. You will need to fill out your contact information only once, but you can update it as needed.

3. I am in possession or supervision of a Thoroughbred that needs aftercare or assistance. How do I use Thoroughbred Connect for this situation?

Click on the tab "Currently in My Possession or Supervision." By adding a specific horse to your Currently in My Possession or Supervision list, you are indicating that the horse is in need of aftercare or assistance. You will receive the contact information on file for any user of Thoroughbred Connect who has added (or adds) that horse to their Willing to Provide Aftercare or Assistance list. You have the option to make the horse(s) currently in your possession or supervision publicly available to all users of Thoroughbred Connect or to have such information remain private.

There is no guarantee of purchase or other acquisition of a Thoroughbred through Thoroughbred Connect.

4. Does The Jockey Club screen users of Thoroughbred Connect for potential aftercare or ownership?

The Jockey Club does not screen potential owners listed in Thoroughbred Connect to determine suitability or appropriateness for Thoroughbred ownership.

It is your responsibility to decide which, if any, potential owners to contact and to investigate potential new owners and any possible homes for the Thoroughbred.

Thoroughbred Connect does not specify the conditions or terms in which a Thoroughbred is available for aftercare or assistance.

5. How will I be notified if a user of Thoroughbred Connect has indicated that they are willing to provide aftercare or assistance for a specific horse in my Currently in My Possession or Supervision list?

The contact information of a user who indicated they are willing to provide aftercare or assistance for a Thoroughbred in your Currently in My Possession or Supervision list will be sent electronically to the email listed in your Thoroughbred Connect Contact Information tab.

6. How many horses can I list that are currently in my possession or supervision?

You may list up to 10 horses currently in your possession or supervision. If you wish to add more than 10 horses, please contact The Jockey Club at inquiries@jockeyclub.com stating the reasons.

7. I would be willing to provide aftercare or assistance for a specific horse. How do I use Thoroughbred Connect for this situation?

Click on the tab "Willing to Provide Aftercare or Assistance." By adding a specific horse to your Willing to Provide Aftercare or Assistance list, you are indicating that you are willing to provide aftercare or assistance for that horse. Your Thoroughbred Connect contact information will be forwarded by email to a user of Thoroughbred Connect if they indicate a horse(s) listed in your Willing to Provide Aftercare or Assistance list is in need of aftercare or assistance. Please keep your contact information for Thoroughbred Connect up to date for this purpose.

8. I would be willing to provide aftercare or assistance for any Thoroughbred. How do I use Thoroughbred Connect for this situation?

There is a public list of Thoroughbreds that have been indicated as currently needing aftercare or assistance. It may be found under the "Horses Needing Aftercare or Assistance" tab.

9. Does Thoroughbred Connect require users to contact me if I indicate that I am willing to provide aftercare or assistance for a specific horse

Thoroughbred Connect does not require that a person in possession or supervision of a specific horse contact a person with the same horse in their Willing to Provide Aftercare or Assistance list.

10. How many horses can I list that I am willing to provide aftercare or assistance for?

You may list up to 100 horses for which you are willing to provide aftercare or assistance. If you wish to add more than 100 horses, please contact The Jockey Club at inquiries@jockeyclub.com stating the reasons.

11. Do I have to take a horse on my Willing to Provide Aftercare or Assistance list if it needs assistance?

There is no requirement of purchase or other acquisition of a Thoroughbred through Thoroughbred Connect.

12. Can I remove horses from my Thoroughbred Connect lists?

You may add or remove horses as needed. Once a horse is removed, you will no longer receive connections for the horse.
