Along with nearly all registry-related transactions, the fee for reports of mares bred will supplement the industry support already provided by The Jockey Club for Thoroughbred aftercare initiatives, including the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance (TAA), Thoroughbred Charities of America (TCA), and Thoroughbred Incentive Program (T.I.P.).
2. Is the Report of Mares Bred fee per stallion or per mare?The fee is $35 per mare bred.
3. How do I pay the fee?You can log on to your Jockey Club Interactive Registration account at www.registry.jockeyclub.com and pay the fee when submitting the Report of Mares Bred or use the Fees Payment button to pay by card or mail a check or money order to The Jockey Club, 821 Corporate Drive, Lexington, KY 40503.
4. Will I need to pay a fee if I am reporting mares for breeding seasons prior to 2018?The fee is $35 per mare bred beginning with the 2018 breeding season. There is no fee for reports of mares bred in previous years.
5. Does the fee have to be submitted at the time the mare's bred report is filed?No. However, Service Certificates will not be issued or available for electronic release until the fees are paid.
6. Can I choose which mares I want to pay the fee for as Service Certificates are needed?No. The fee is calculated at $35 per mare bred for each stallion.
7. What if my stallion stands in Canada or Puerto Rico? Who will benefit from the fees?In coordination with The Jockey Club of Canada, funds raised from Canadian customers of The Jockey Club will be directed to Canadian Thoroughbred aftercare organizations to supplement their efforts, and likewise, funds from Puerto Rico will be dedicated to support Thoroughbreds at recognized programs in that commonwealth.
8. If a mare is bred but does not produce a live foal, can I return the Service Certificate and receive a refund?No. The fee is calculated at $35 per mare bred for each stallion.
